HARVESTING SEEDS AND FRUITS IN THE DUNE ENVIRONMENT

17th NOVEMBER 2020 – DUNE AREA “RESERVA DE LOS MONTEROS”, Río Real-Reserva de los Monteros
Collection of seeds of the wonderful Sea daffodil (Pancratium maritimum) and dune conservation

Working with our Fundatul participants, ProDunas will begin harvesting seeds and fruits of our native species. Every week we will be in a different dune area, depending, of course, on the ripeness of the seeds. These will then be sent to a company in Cordoba where they will be selected and treated. Later they will be reintroduced into the dune areas that have been degraded. This is how we will help create new and beautiful biodiversity.

This working together will teach those taking part how to develop good dune conservation. They will remove invasive alien species by hand so that these do not flourish and edge out the native dune vegetation.

All our activities with Fundatul are aimed at preparing the participants for a possible start in a working life.
