IV Foro Cátedra Hidralia+UGR. COVID-19: Oportunidad o amenaza para los ODS

SDG = SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS SET BY THE UNITED NATIONS (UN)

The title of this year’s Forum was: COVID-19: Opportunity or Threat to the SDGs?

The conference focused on analysing the condition that the disease could have had, the virus, its expansion and what the quarantine (COVID-19 in general) may have had on the aims of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Could this situation have been beneficial in any way?

The Forum got under way with a small opening ceremony followed by a first roundtable discussion: Society, Economy, Health and COVID-19, moderated by Mr. Javier Ordóñez, coordinator of SDG strategy at the University of Granada.

The second part of the forum consisted of another roundtable on: the Environment, Climate, Sustainability and COVID-19, and was moderated by Mr. Andrés Ferrer Santiago, CEO of OMAWA Huella Ecológica, a member company of the Andalusian Network Against Climate Change (REDAC).

The speakers included representatives from organisations as varied as the University of Granada, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the Women in Movement initiative, the SUEZ group, ECOLOGING, the Ibero-American Union of Townshipists or the ‘Bosques Sostenibles’ (Sustainable Woodlands) project and contributed their experience and points of view on the new reality to be applied to the Sustainable Development Goals.
