E.T.S. of Architecture of Málaga

25 th of October 2023 – A great day of exchanging ideas and of learning at the Coastal Conservation Day!

We would like to express our deep gratitude for the invitation to ProDunas Marbella to take part as Speaker in this very significant event.

On 25th October we had the honour of sharing our successful experiences and our perspectives for the conservation of the Marbella coastline.

The conference, organized by the University of Malaga School of Architecture and the ETC (European Topic Center), invited the Andalusian Coastal Ministry (MITERD) , the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Malaga, ProDunas Marbella, WWF-Spain and the University of Granada. All contributed to an enriching session where measures for the effective conservation of the Spanish coast were addressed.

ProDunas Marbella has been committed to the conservation of the Marbella coastline for years, and this opportunity allowed us to share our passion and knowledge with a diverse and engaged audience.

We want to express our gratitude to all attendees, organizers and co-workers for making this event possible. We will continue to work tirelessly for the conservation of our beaches and dunes, and we hope that this day will serve as a catalyst for future initiatives and actions that strengthen the protection of our precious coastal environment.

20th June, 2022

WORKSHOP organized by the Malaga Superior Technical College of Architecture (E.T.S. de Architecture de Málaga)

National research project, called MOVxPAIMED – “Landscapes saved / landscapes to be saved”.

Because of our extensive and proven know-how and experience on concepts of recovery, rehabilitation and protection of the different dune environments and their flora and fauna on the Costa del Sol in Marbella, our Association was invited to take part in this workshop.

 Subject:

Research project at national level, named MOVxPAIMED – Landscapes saved / landscapes to be saved

Five other universities took part in this project:

  • University of Girona,
  • Rovira i Virgili University (Tarragona),
  • University of Valencia,
  • University of Alicante,
  • University of Murcia,
  • University of Granada.

This is an ambitious project that covers the entire sweep of the Mediterranean and seeks to geo-locate, review and give visibility to those conflicts linked to the landscape that have stirred up social mobilization.

The University of Malaga proposed holding this workshop in the E.T.S. of Architecture to bring the research project closer to the different associations and platforms that have shown themselves to be more active and more committed to the defence of the landscape (in the case of Malaga and Cádiz). This would, in its turn, organize an open dialogue forum which would promote mutual enrichment, the exchange of ideas and action strategies by the sharing of experiences.

Jaime Pereña, ProDunas Marbella Association’s Scientific Advisor, strongly underlined the risks that exist for the flora and fauna of the Marbella dunes and presented credible proposals to reverse the damage caused by human beings.

We would like to thank the University of Malaga for giving visibility to our project as well as to Pablo Rico Pinazo for organizing this interesting event.
