Our beloved Honorary President would have felt very honoured and very proud to deserve the distinction of
HONORARY CITIZEN
awarded to himS by Marbella Town Hall.
The distinction awarded to Fernando posthumously is because of the altruistic commitment he perused with dignity as President of ProDunas Marbella for more than 20 years, never grudging the hours spent or whether it was a holiday or not during all this time.
He leaves a legacy for all the citizens of Marbella and for future generations. He created a green lung on the coast to the east of Marbella, from El Pinillo to Calahonda. His vision was firm: the dune belt on the coast should be recovered and protected as of being
OF COMMON BENEFIT TO THE CITIZENSHIP OF MARBELLA
This vision is how the peaceful struggle for the recovery of 11 dune environments was born. Today they form part of the Natural Values of Andalusia.
His dedication over all those years was backed up by the numerous members of ProDunas Marbella, its Board of Directors, its volunteers and its many supporters. The commitment and sheer hard work it took to promote the recovery, rehabilitation and protection of these dune environments ensured, with the ruling by the Junta de Andalucía in 2015 and with the implicit support of Marbella Town Hall, that all the dune environments to the east of Marbella be declared:
MARBELLA DUNES ECOLOGICAL RESERVE
ProDunas Marbella will defend this distinction with pride and dignity as proof of the loyalty that our Honorary President showed at all times to the city of Marbella and to every one of its citizens.
