The various dune ecosystems to the east of Marbella are included in the Ecological Reserve-Dunas de Marbella and in the Natural Monument “Dunas de Artola”. All of these form part of the “Natural Values of Andalusia” which have been protected by ProDunas Marbella for many years. They make up one of the main themes the Association is making available to schools and to members of the public in general. The planning of environmental education consists of two groups of activities:

Environmental Education in the school classroom with interactive talks backed up by videos or PowerPoint presentations, and
– active Environmental Education out in the dunes themselves and/or on the Marbella coast.

These would include dune conservation undertakings and the clean-up of plastic and garbage on the various beaches of Marbella. 

Both of these programs are designed to bring students from Primary through to High School closer to the problems associated with Climate Change and get them involved in acquiring a firm commitment to nature, to watch over and take care of it, so that its future is assured. 

As an environmental Association, it is our duty to promote environmental education and understanding. This will help develop environmental awareness in line with the sustainable conservation of everything to do with nature. To achieve this we are offering two types of activity:
– Didactic talks in the school classroom
– Outdoor activities to promote understanding and awareness by teaching centred on the environment. We aim to teach respect for the natural development of our wild flora and fauna. 

The content of these environmental education sessions is drawn up by our qualified biologists who, being masters of the theme, are able to deliver talks at different levels to the various sectors of the population: talks in school classrooms or in scheduled seminars on the university campus or to companies interested in encouraging environmental awareness among members of staff. 

At ProDunas Marbella we have enough teaching staff to facilitate different lines of action. We can adapt to the needs of different groups and upgrade teacher training on specific issues of environmental education, if so required. The lines of action followed will always be centred on the importance of the natural environment, promoting many programs on activities to encourage increased environmental education.
