¡THE REMAINING DUNES UNDER PROTECTIVE EASEMENTS ARE
NOW IN DANGER!

The Pro Dunas Association rises in defence of the last remaining dune environments under Protective Easement (100m from north to south). These lie for 11km along the Marbella coast between Marbella and Cabopino. We demand that they be declared:

"ECOSYSTEMS EXEMPT FROM BUILDING"

Currently there are still a few dune environments threatened by multimillion euro investment projects.

We demand that the local Government in Marbella and the Andalusian Government guarantee, for the benefit of its citizens and visitors, that no license, permit, authorisation or concession be granted in the dune areas under Protective Easements, for any of the following:

luxury Hotel Resorts, Villas, Shopping centres or Beach Clubs

nor Beach Restaurants, Kiosks, open air Sports facilities or swimming pools

The Protective Easement dune-ecosystems host a huge wealth of biodiversity with beautiful native flora and minor fauna. Therefore:

"We demand that the Municipal Authorities in Marbella guarantee the protection, for its citizens, of the remaining natural dune heritage on its shoreline".

The PRO DUNAS Association proposes that the following environmentally-friendly installations may be promoted:

- Wooden pedestrian walkways
- A Nature Centre with look-outs for bird watching and for flora and fauna observation
- Environmental education for citizens, school children, tourists, business groups
- Hands-on work in the dunes to reforest with native plants
- Family friendly areas with children's playgrounds and wooden tables and benches

"THE BENEFITS OF THE FEW SHOULD NOT DAMAGE THE
INTERESTS OF THE MANY"
